Job Summary: The Trailer & Bus Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overall readiness of the company’s enclosed trailers and support equipment, while also assisting with general maintenance and minor repairs across a fleet of entertainment coaches.

This position is a versatile maintenance role supporting the company’s fleet, shop, and operations teams. The Technician will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, maintain trailer systems, complete repairs, and assist with keeping coaches and support equipment safe, reliable, clean, and road-ready.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, highly dependable, comfortable working independently, and capable of troubleshooting a variety of systems found on commercial vehicles, luxury coaches, and enclosed trailers.

Trailer Maintenance & Repair

• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on enclosed trailers and support equipment.

• Inspect and maintain trailer brakes, bearings, hubs, tires, wheels, suspension, lighting, wiring, doors, hinges, latches, ramps, and electrical systems.

• Diagnose and repair trailer electrical issues, including lights, wiring, connectors, batteries, and auxiliary power systems.

• Maintain trailer interiors, flooring, walls, shelving, cabinets, tie-down systems, and other equipment.

• Perform repairs to trailer doors, locks, seals, hinges, ramps, and loading equipment.

• Inspect trailers before and after tours or deployments to identify maintenance needs.

• Maintain proper trailer tire pressures and monitor tire condition.

• Assist with trailer coupling, uncoupling, positioning, and general yard movements when required.

• Maintain accurate records of trailer inspections, repairs, parts, and maintenance.

• Ensure trailers are properly equipped, organized, and ready for use.

General Bus Maintenance

• Assist the fleet maintenance team with preventive maintenance and general repairs on the company’s fleet of approximately 70 luxury entertainment coaches.

• Perform routine inspections of coaches and identify mechanical, electrical, cosmetic, and safety-related issues.

• Perform minor repairs and adjustments to coach systems and components.

• Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting, including lighting, switches, wiring, batteries, outlets, and auxiliary electrical components.

• Assist with basic plumbing repairs, including water lines, fittings, pumps, drains, and fixtures.

• Perform minor repairs to interior components, cabinetry, flooring, trim, doors, hardware, and fixtures.

• Assist technicians with larger mechanical or electrical repairs as needed.

• Perform oil, filter, lubrication, battery, tire, and other preventive maintenance tasks as directed.

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document deficiencies.

• Respond to maintenance issues identified by drivers, fleet personnel, or shop management.

• Assist with preparing coaches for upcoming tours and returning coaches to service following tours.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Preventive Maintenance & Fleet Readiness

• Follow established preventive maintenance schedules for trailers and coaches.

• Identify potential failures before they result in roadside breakdowns or tour interruptions.

• Inspect equipment for safety, reliability, and operational readiness.

• Communicate maintenance concerns promptly to the Shop Manager or Fleet Management team.

• Prioritize repairs based on safety, operational requirements, tour schedules, and fleet availability.

• Assist with maintaining adequate spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.

• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and repair records.

• Ensure all work is completed according to company standards and manufacturer recommendations.

Roadside & Tour Support

• Assist the Breakdown Manager and Fleet Management team with roadside maintenance issues when necessary.

• Help diagnose mechanical, electrical, trailer, or equipment issues remotely or in the field.

• Travel periodically to assist with emergency repairs or fleet support.

• Coordinate with outside repair facilities, towing companies, vendors, and mobile technicians when directed.

• Assist with returning disabled coaches or trailers to service as quickly and safely as practical.

• Maintain a professional and customer-service-oriented approach when interacting with drivers, tour personnel, vendors, and clients.

Shop & Equipment Responsibilities

• Maintain tools, shop equipment, lifts, jacks, diagnostic equipment, and other maintenance resources.

• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with company safety standards.

• Properly store parts, supplies, tools, and equipment.

• Assist with inventory control for commonly used maintenance parts and supplies.

• Identify damaged, missing, or obsolete equipment and report it to management.

• Follow all company safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.

• Properly dispose of waste materials, fluids, batteries, and other maintenance-related materials.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

• Perform all work in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

• Maintain awareness of DOT-related safety requirements applicable to commercial vehicles and trailers.

• Properly document inspections and maintenance activities.

• Immediately report safety hazards or equipment conditions that could create a risk to employees, drivers, passengers, customers, or the public.

• Never return a vehicle or trailer to service when a known safety issue has not been properly addressed.

• Maintain a safety-first mindset in all maintenance activities.

Qualifications

Required

• 2+ years of experience in vehicle, trailer, fleet, automotive, diesel, commercial vehicle, or similar maintenance.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to diagnose and repair basic mechanical and electrical problems.

• Ability to use common hand and power tools safely and effectively.

• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams, schematics, and maintenance documentation.

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.

Preferred

• Experience working with commercial vehicles, motorcoaches, tour buses, RVs, trailers, or fleet vehicles.

• Experience with luxury motorcoaches or entertainment transportation.

• Diesel maintenance experience.

• Commercial trailer maintenance experience.

• 12-volt and 120-volt electrical troubleshooting experience.

• Welding or fabrication experience.

• Basic plumbing experience.

• HVAC or refrigeration experience.

• CDL or ability to obtain a CDL.

• Experience working in a fleet maintenance environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work in confined areas for extended periods.

• Ability to work underneath vehicles and trailers when properly supported by approved equipment.

• Ability to climb ladders and access elevated areas of coaches and trailers.

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, jacks, lifts, diagnostic equipment, and other maintenance equipment.

• Ability to work occasional nights, weekends, holidays, or extended hours based on fleet and tour requirements.

Work Environment

The position operates primarily in a fleet/shop environment but may also require travel to other company locations, repair facilities, tour stops, or roadside locations.

Because the company operates a large entertainment transportation fleet, maintenance requirements may occasionally arise outside of normal business hours. Flexibility and responsiveness are important components of the position.
